An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Peebles Media Group – Scotland’s leading independent publisher – as cross-platform journalist on its home interest title, Homes & Interiors Scotland magazine.

Our mission is to source the very best of what Scotland has to offer; discover rising stars from the design world, showcase Scotland’s wealth of talented makers, celebrate its producers, and spotlight its world-class projects. Homes & Interiors Scotland harnesses that creative spirit and packages it up in a beautifully curated bi-monthly magazine and website for our discerning audience.
Essential skills and experience:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working as a multimedia journalist, content creator, online writer or similar
- Competence in using systems including WordPress, Premier Pro, Photoshop, Canva
- UGC videography experience; an understanding of Instagram, Facebook, X, Pinterest, TikTok
- The ability to write clean and compelling copy, whether for short-form captions or long-read articles
- An aptitude for filming and editing video content and turning it into captivating visual stories to deadline
- An on-the-pulse grasp of the Scottish lifestyle, design, art and interiors landscape– you’ll know what trends to tap into and demonstrate a passion for engaging current followers and building new audiences
- Superb organisational and admin skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects/features at a time
- Lots of creative ideas, a solutions-based approach, attention to detail and the ability to work proactively and accurately under pressure
- Enthusiasm and initiative and, ideally, a genuine interest in interiors, art, design and lifestyle content
Desirable skills and experience:
- DotDigital, SEMRush, Hubspot, Meta
- Networking
- Contacts with the arts and Lifestyle circuit in Scotland
- Interest in social media software updates and trends in social media marketing
- A full, clean driving licence
Key responsibilities:
- Staying on top of the latest news in the homes, interiors, architecture and Scottish lifestyle landscape for both print and digital platforms
- Pitching a variety of ideas and articles across key areas including art, design, interiors, lifestyle
- Researching trends, keeping abreast of trending content on competitor publications, sites, platforms
- Working on special editorial editions
- Generating, researching, interviewing and publishing stories online, in print and across social media platforms
- Shooting, editing and publishing video content
- Writing short form features, news, trend pieces for print
- Gaining an in-depth knowledge of the brand to maximise cross-platform content opportunities
- Working with the editorial team to prepare the magazine for print production deadline
- Attending events, capturing content, interviewing and representing the brand at networking events, launches, openings and shows
You will work closely with the Homes & Interior Scotland editorial team and commercial team, overseen by the magazine editor, and managed day-to-day by the digital editor.

The role is full time and office-based (35 hours per week, Mon-Fri).
Salary: around £26,000-£28,000, dependent on experience.
